The Terminal Operating Technician role:

  • Operate the LPG plant, pressure systems, cryogenic plant, and utility systems such as steam, nitrogen, and compressed air.
  • Perform routine low-level maintenance and inspections, support site-specific modifications, conduct site isolations, perform workplace audits, and assist in decommissioning site material.
  • Record and log plant operations, general site activities, safety system overrides, and equipment defects. You will present essential information clearly for handovers, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
  • Communicate proactively with the Shift Lead to support site operations and maintenance, maintaining business performance targets.
  • Conduct process isolations to ensure safe work settings for employees or contractors and act as the site contact under the terminal’s Safe System of Work.
  • In a site emergency, you will support incident management and maintain an incident log, ensuring safety. You will contribute to developing, reviewing, and updating emergency, security, safety, and operational plans, procedures, and risk assessments.

Terminal Operating Technician Essential Skills:

  • Practical abilities with knowledge of process operations and experience with cryogenic plant and equipment.
  • Technical process knowledge related to safety at an upper-tier COMAH site and ability to respond to abnormal or emergency situations.
  • Ability to respond to environmental hazards and incidents with due care and attention.
  • Understanding of operational policies, procedures, and safe working practices or relevant legislation.
  • A proactive approach to work-related problems.
  • Proficiency in IT and IS systems for day-to-day duties.
  • Understanding and following the company’s performance management process, including personal development.
  • Minimum education: GCSE Grade C or equivalent, including Maths andamp; English. ONC or City andamp; Guilds (or equivalent) is desirable.
